Summary:
Certain medium duty conventional cab trucks were produced with a body wiring harness with no protective conduit in the area under the driver’s feet to reduce the potential for harness wear. The body wiring harness includes SDM wiring that could be damaged from chafing and wear by the vehicle operator.

Consequence:
This could result in inadvertent air bag deployment. A person may receive minor injuries, such as abrasions, from contact with the bag.

Remedy:
Dealers will inspect the wiring harness for potential damage, repair or replace the harness if required, and add conduit to all harnesses free of charge. The recall began on May 3, 2005. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC at 1-866-996-9463.
